The Critical Ethnic Studies faculty awards honors in the major through a collective and collaborative process. These decisions are made by the core CES faculty, and may include conversations with additional faculty, especially in cases where the SIP is completed outside of the major.
The minimum requirements for honors designation include:
- Excellence in the core courses, reflected by a minimum GPA of 3.75 in the Major.
- The completion of a Senior Individualized Project that engages the questions, methods, and theoretical frameworks of the major; and/or Senior Individualized Project in CES with Honors.
- Sustained engagement with the field and/or major. This engagement can include service to the CES major and program, and/or service to and engagement with the broader K, or Kalamazoo, community. This engagement should also reflect the methods, theories and goals of the program.
