The Cassandra Solis ’16 Prize in Critical Ethnic Studies

The Cassandra Solis ’16 prize in Critical Ethnic Studies is named in honor of K’s first Critical Ethnic Studies major. It is awarded to a senior CES major for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to building community.

Cassandra Solis is bilingual and identifies as Mexican/Chicana. She received a double Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Critical Ethnic Studies from Kalamazoo College. She is the inaugural graduate of the Critical Ethnic Studies program and was instrumental to the creation of the program.

Cassandra is the Associate Director of Health Affairs Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Illinois Chicago
